The Catalina 36 was designed by Frank Butler as the perfect family cruiser. It's well known for outstanding performance under sail with comfortable accommodations and a secure workable deck plan. In today's world, the Catalina 36 remains one of the best values in her size range.

Vela spent many years in the freshwater Great Lakes. She was then moved to the Gulf coast of Florida.

Accommodations

Vela has a comfortable V-Berth with lots of storage and a hanging locker. In the Salon there is a U-shaped dinette that converts into a double berth and a unique second dinette to starboard that also turns into a single berth.

The salon area is spacious and airy with a 32" TV for entertainment. Her teak interior gives a warm and inviting feeling, and she has a teak/holly sole. She has plenty of ports that provide natural light in the cabin and the opening hatches

bring in the fresh air.

The area aft of the salon is to starboard a navigation station equipped with a chart table and captain's chair. The Master panel for 110V and 12V is adjacent to the Nav station.

The galley offers a stainless steel double sink, double-burner alcohol stove top, and refrigerator. Above the stovetop is a microwave. New galley faucets were installed in 2020.

Aft is a large cabin area with a privacy door.
