PEARSON 36-2 – MOONLIGHT LADY - WALKTHROUGH


COCKPIT


The spacious cockpit boasts cushioned seating for 7.  The Edson helm features a suede wrapped destroyer wheel, magnetic compass, GPS, auto pilot, wind instrument and engine controls.  A 30 amp shore power receptacle is mounted at the stern on the port side.  A deck shower is found in the aft port locker with the propane locker on the starboard opposite.  A manual bilge pump is found on the port side forward where a large storage locker is also found under the bench seat.  A swim ladder and dingy davits are mounted at the stern aft of the helm, while moving forward of the helm a teak and holly folding cockpit table is mounted on the helm pedestal along with a teak cup holder rack.  


Two Lewmar 52 2-Speed self-tailing winches for foresail trim are mounted on the cockpit coamings, with two recessed cubbies below.  Two additional Lewmar 16 2-Speed winches for running rigging trim are cabin top mounted on either side of the salon companionway.  All lines lead aft to the cockpit.


The cockpit is protected from the sun and sea by a dodger with hand rails and Bimini.

 

TOPSIDES


Moving forward the deck is protected by a stainless steel bow and stern rails connected by dual lifelines, running the length of the deck port and starboard; gates are found just forward of the cockpit, port and starboard and at the bow.


Two hatches are found on the cabin top in the cockpit with two additional hatches on the forward cabin top; along with teak hand rails running on the port and starboard sides. There are a two fixed ports and nine opening portlights, with additional ventilation provided by 2 solar powered overhead fans and a Dorade vent to the salon. 


Foresail tracks run along on the port and starboard side decks and atop the port and starboard gunwales, which are raised and capped with teak..  A total of 6 cleats are found at the bow, stern and midship.  There is an anchor locker at the bow containing a Fortress anchor, that can be mounted on a roller mount at the bow.

 

The double spreader rig features headsail roller furler, hydraulic back stay,  mechanical boom vang, mounted spinnaker pole, radar transceiver, radar reflector, steaming and anchor lights. The standing rigging is stainless wire cable.


MAIN CABIN


Entering the main cabin from the cockpit via a center mounted companionway, the galley is to starboard, along with the aft cabin, a hanging locker, head and nav station are to port.  A large salon opens up forward with seating for eight to nine crew. 


The Salon, as well as the rest of the interior, features teak joinery and a teak and holly sole. With an U shaped settee with pedestal mounted table to starboard and a straight settee to port, the salon offers a spacious and comfortable area for the crew to gather. Storage lockers are found along the port and starboard sides above the settees and are complimented by lockers behind and below the settees. A chest of drawers is located forward of the port settee.  


Additional features include stereo speakers, overhead and bulkhead mounted lighting, 120 vac outlets and overhead hand holds. Ventilation is provided by four opening ports, an overhead hatch, two solar fans, a dorade vent, the cockpit companionway, and three fans.


GALLEY


The L-shaped galley is located on the starboard side aft of the salon and features a teak and holly sole, Force 10 stove/oven with countertop cover, double stainless steel sink with hot and cold running water, 120 vac outlet, and a large top access refrigerator freezer. Storage is provided by over and under counter lockers, drawers and shelving.  A portlight and overhead solar fan provide supplemental ventilation to the galley and salon. 


NAVIGATION STATION:


The navigation station is located opposite the galley on the port side, in the aft port corner of the salon.  The station features a teak, lift top nav desk with seating provided by a swing stool. The 12 and 120 volt electrical panels are found above the table, along with a VHF Radio, Raytheon radar panel, battery voltage meter ,12 vdc plug, bilge pump switch panel and a map light and overhead light.


AFT CABIN


The private aft cabin is found behind the galley on the starboard side and features a queen berth and teak joinery with a hanging locker. Shelving runs along the starboard side above the berth. Lockers under the berth provide additional storage. There are two overhead lights, a reading lamp above the berth and a 120 vac outlet. Ventilation is provided two opening portlights, an overhead hatch and a fan.


FORWARD CABIN


Moving forward from the salon, access to the forward cabin is found through doorway in the forward bulkhead. The cabin features a V-berth with shelving beneath and forward at the foot of the berth.  Additional storage is provided by joinery featuring a hanging locker on the starboard side and a chest of lockers on the port side. Additional storage is provided by lockers on the port and starboard sides above the berth. Lighting is provided by over berth lamps, and wall lamps. There is one 120 vac outlet. Ventilation is provided by two opening portlights, an overhead hatch, and two fans.  


WET HEAD


The forward head is accessed from the salon, aft port side.  The head includes a manual marine toilet and a countertop featuring a porcelain sink with hot and cold running water. There are storage lockers above and below the sink, including one that is useful as a clothes hamper.  Mirrors are mounted on the starboard bulkhead and above the sink. There is an overhead light, a light above the sink and a 120 vac outlet above the countertop. Ventilation is provided by an opening portlight an overhead hatch and a fan.  The head converts to a shower with a 360 degree shower curtain and the sink spigot which is also a shower wand. 


ENGINE COMPARTMENT


The engine compartment is underneath the galley sink and can be accessed from three sides through opening panels and doors.  The compartment features an automatic Fireboy halon fire suppression system.

The hull is constructed of a solid laminate of fiberglass cloth and plastic resin, while the deck and cabin structure utilize end-grain balsa core between fiberglass laminates for added strength and rigidity. The structure is supported by a combination of plywood bulkheads, longitudinal stringers, and fiberglass liners. The deck and hull are joined with through bolts on an outward flange covered by a plastic molding.
