Greg Merritt was born and raised in Meridian, MS. He was drawn to the water at an early age and enjoyed all water sports. Thanks to his parent’s lakeside summer home, Greg excelled at waterskiing, fishing and became an avid sailor. He honed in on his sailing and boating skills throughout the lakes in both Mississippi and Alabama. After graduating from Ole Miss with a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Business, he decided to join the family liquor and wine brokerage business which included covering the states of Mississippi and Alabama. While working with all the liquor stores and military bases throughout the south, Greg perfected his customer service skills with a distinct “southern charm”.
It was his love for the water that brought him to Florida where he continued in the liquor and wine trade with Southern Wine and Spirits through their restaurant division. In 1985 Greg officially joined the Davis Island Yacht Club of Tampa. He has participated in many offshore regattas including a trip from Clearwater to Key West, and a historic sail to Cuba. Greg received his PADI certification in 1987 and still enjoys diving when possible. Other hobbies include his membership with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the 1st Regiment-“Rough Riders Calvary” of Tampa Bay.
It was the combination of his love of the water and boating that lead to his current career as a Yacht Broker.
“This allows me to use my years of customer service from a competitive sales background in tandem with my love for boating. Coming on board with Curtis Stokes and Associates has allowed me to continue honest customer service, while helping my customers find that perfect boat.”
