The bridge clearance is 16’6” with just the upper section of mast lowered; this makes Selah a perfect vessel for the Great Loop.

1985 CHB SENATOR 35' WALK-THROUGH

You can board Selah from either side or via the teak swim platform. Entry to the interior cabin space is via the sliding doors on either sidedeck. The classic teak interior woodwork is very traditional.

The salon to port, the galley and interior helm to starboard are all laid out with ease of movement a primary consideration. The master stateroom with ensuite head is aft, a few steps down from the salon. The guest V-berth and day head are forward, a few steps down from the salon. Engine room access is via the teak sole or through an opening behind the steps in the V-berth.

The trunk cabin top is several steps up from the deck. The flybridge of Selah is a few steps up from the cabin trunk. The foredeck is easily accessed by the wide side decks.

1985 CHB SENATOR 35' ACCOMMODATIONS

Salon

An L-shaped settee on the port side of Selah is covered with a neutral vinyl. The dining table  folds open for more entertaining space. There are large opening windows or portlights with screens to both port and starboard with neutral mini-blinds, as well as fixed windows aft with neutral mini-blinds which provide good visibility, natural light, and cross ventilation. The three panel windshield has an exterior cover for sun protection, and an opening center window for ventilation.  The salon also features a teak and holly sole, teak overhead hand-holds, storage under the settee accessible via sliding doors at your feet or hatch covers under the cushions, and teak shelves and magazine racks. Most of the lighting throughout the vessel was upgraded to LED in January, 2022 with a few exceptions. There are also handy one-touch lights mounted throughout.

The salon sole panels lift off for access to the engine room below. There is storage everywhere, in the classic trawler sense. The salon headroom is 6’ 5”. There is one removable interior screen that fits both salon doors, and a screen for the opening center windshield window. A handy retractable laundry line stretches from aft to starboard.

Galley

The galley on Selah is to starboard, across from the settee, and has a classic galley layout.  It features an Eupava 2-burner Induction cook-top, a microwave with an “Ask Alexa” feature, a Norcold AC/DC upright refrigerator/freezer which can be converted to propane power, an Edgestar dishwasher, a 110v electrical outlet, deep dual stainless steel sinks with covers and a faucet with a pull-out sprayer nozzle, an opening window with mini-blinds and screens, a cleverly stored wooden cutting board, a Newmar propane control panel, and neutral Formica counters.

The galley storage on Selah includes: a large slide out storage basket, four stacked drawers, four drawers under the dishwasher and sink, double cabinet doors beneath those drawers, a fold-out trash bin cabinet, and a pull-out bottle/glass storage cabinet under the interior helm seat.

Master Stateroom

Selah has an aft master cabin, three steps down from the salon, with a sculpted centerline Queen sized berth, and teak and holly sole.  There is a large storage cabinet to starboard at the bottom of the steps with three shelves and a light. Beneath that cabinet is a large open cabinet that may have once housed a single unit washer/dryer, since there is a water connection. There was no washer/dryer when the current owner purchased the vessel.

The beautiful teak interior has storage to starboard with four double door storage cabinets, a hanging locker, and eight drawers. A Vizio TV with a sound bar and Terk antenna (new in February, 2022) is also mounted to starboard. The storage to port is a hanging locker and four drawers. There is also a workstation/makeup table with a large drawer at the counter. There is no chair or seat for that area. There is a large mirror over the counter. The end tables on either side of the berth have small drawers.

Large opening windows with screens on both the port and starboard side, as well two opening portlights aft over the berth give the master stateroom a light and open feel. They all have interior shades.

The master stateroom also has two reading lights at the berth, 110v electrical outlets on either side of the berth, courtesy rope lights along the sole, and three ceiling fixtures, two of which have been converted to LED.

There is 6’2” of headroom and numerous brass hooks on the walls. The control for the aft reversible AC/heat is next to the steps into the Master Stateroom. The stainless steel water tank is located under the berth.

The window glass in the salon, galley, and master stateroom show evidence of delamination. There is a cracked window to port in the master stateroom.

Master Stateroom Head

The ensuite master stateroom head on Selah features a corner mounted sink, a separate shower/tub with a shower curtain, a Jabsco fresh water electric head, a teak sole grate, a towel bar, two mirrors, a corner cabinet over the sink, open and closed storage at the shower/tub, two ceiling lights, a motion detector night light, 6’ of headroom, a 110v electrical outlet, and a screened portlight for fresh air and natural light with a retractable shade. The door from the master stateroom has a carved bamboo relief.

V-Berth

The V-berth on Selah is perfect for guests, or can be used for additional storage. It is four steps down from the passageway from the salon. It features two opposite bunks in the traditional V layout with a removable insert. The sole is teak and holly. A step is between the two berths when the V is removed. Two drawers and a cabinet are under each berth, and a shelved storage locker is to starboard.

The V-berth also features two reading lights, 6’1” of headroom, the control for the forward reversible AC/heat and a related voltage meter, two curtained portlights for fresh air and ventilation, a 26”x26” ceiling hatch, an LED ceiling light, a 110v electrical fixture, and access to the engine room under the steps from the salon. The head is ensuite and has a beautiful door carved with bamboo relief.

Access to the anchor locker is forward of the berths.

Guest Head

The forward head can be used as a wet head or as the day head. It features: a sink, a Jabsco Parmax manual raw water head, two mirrors, a wall-mounted teak tissue box holder, a wall-mounted teak toilet paper holder, a large storage cabinet behind the head with a tiled interior wall and electrical outlet, a towel bar, a corner medicine cabinet, a ceiling light, an opening portlight with curtain, a teak sole grate, 5’10” of headroom, and a tile backsplash. The Bissell power sweeper stored in the guest head conveys with the vessel.

1985 CHB SENATOR 35' LOWER HELM STATION

The lower helm station is to starboard forward of the galley. A door at the helm station leads to the side decks. A captain’s seat with fold-down seat is at the helm station. The steering has been removed, so the vessel can only be driven from this station using the throttles and shifters, not the rudders. The teak ship’s steering wheel has been removed, but conveys with the vessel.

There is a large navigation table to port that pulls out for large charts. It can also be used as a buffet for serving meals.

1985 CHB SENATOR 35' DECK, HULL, AND BRIDGE

The deck of Selah is solid fiberglass with white Kiwi-grip non-skid, which was applied in February, 2022. The hand rails and toe rails were treated in March, 2022. All other teak hand holds and trim have been painted white. The raised bulwarks and high hand rails provide extra safety while moving about the decks.

The teak swim platform features a fold-down stainless steel swim ladder, a motor mount for a dinghy motor, and a hot/cold shower.

The trunk cabin deck is four steps up from the sidewalks, and is large enough to add some seating or an outdoor table. The previous owner used wood poles to hold up a canvas top, which all convey with the vessel. There are also outside canvas covers for all windows. There is a wood flagpole and two rocket-launcher fishing pole holders.  A large dock box is mounted on the trunk cabin deck. Selah comes with blue canvas to enclose the trunk cabin below the hand rail, but it is not currently installed. Some of the clips for the underside of the teak handrails need to be reinstalled.

There are two teak steps up to the fully enclosed flybridge. The small deck outside the flybridge has two Magma rail mounted fish stations. The radar mast has two spreader lights, and can be easily lowered. The bridge clearance is 16’6” with the mast lowered.

The flybridge is completely enclosed with Plexiglas windows in aluminum frames and a hardtop roof with a 20”x20” hatch. The front windows were replaced in February, 2022. The windows all open, except for the front windows on either side of center. The flybridge is also air conditioned, and features a Carrier Air V unit mounted on the hardtop roof.

Solar panels are mounted on the flybridge hardtop.

Guests on Selah can recline on the small chaises facing aft on either side of the bridge; they both have storage beneath. There is also a guest seat to starboard at the helm. The captain and navigator have matching Arrigon captain’s chairs which can be adjusted on sliding rails at center and to port, with a stainless steel foot rest. The platform the chairs are mounted on provides additional storage.

The flybridge also features six LED ceiling lights, 6’4” of headroom (6’ at the AC unit), 110v electrical outlets, suction cup mounted drink holders, ceiling fishing pole mounts, a stainless steel steering wheel, and a blue tooth equipped stereo. The hatch does needs new struts. There is also a propane locker to port under the helm which is disconnected.

The bow pulpit features a Lewmar windlass with a 44# anchor and 5/8” rode and 30’ of chain. There is a 35# CQR anchor and a 25# Danforth anchor which also convey with the vessel. A dual trumpet horn is mounted on the brow as well as a hailer. There are two fender holders for four fenders total, and a fresh-water wash-down. The spotlight is non-operational.

The bottom was freshly painted in March, 2021. Selah was stored on the hard from June, 2021 to December, 2021 and was in the Florida Keys from December, 2021 to March, 2022. The bottom was regularly cleaned by a diver while in the Keys. The sacrificial anodes (“zincs”) were all replaced in December, 2021. The lines and fenders are all less than one year old.

1985 CHB SENATOR 35' FUEL TANKS

The previous owner had the black steel fuel tanks coated. Although the tanks show some rust on the exterior, there is no rust on the interior of the tanks.
