1985 KADEY KROGEN 42 WALK THROUGH

Stout has a classic trawler design with a covered cockpit with teak-laid deck and wide covered teak-laid sidewalks to the teak-laid foredeck.  Teak doors lead to the raised pilothouse on both the port and starboard sides.  The flybridge is accessed via the cockpit ladder.

Double teak French doors lead into the salon and galley area.  The three level layout of the interior features steps down to the ensuite Master stateroom, the guest head, and the guest stateroom/den.  Steps lead up from the salon level to the pilothouse.

1985 KADEY KROGEN 42 ACCOMMODATIONS

Salon Stout features the beautiful teak joinery that is expected of a Kadey Krogen.  There is a parquet sole throughout.  Large windows, with pleated blinds for privacy, provide ample natural light.  Two black leather Ekornes Prince "Stressless" lounge chairs, with matching ottomans, are to starboard, on either side of a custom "butterfly" table on a stainless steel base which converts from a low cocktail table to a full height dining table.

An Ultrasuede settee is to port, which converts to a single berth. A Dickinson Antarctic diesel heater and stove is also to port.  It is primarily for décor, but can be hooked up as a backup to the central heating system.  A bookcase with louvered door lockers, partially configured for glassware, is to port across from the galley.

The television is hidden in the galley countertop, and rises on an electric lift.  The salon is also equipped with full surround sound speakers.

Galley The galley on Stout is located on the same level as the salon, forward, and is open to the salon.  Extensive remodeling was done of the galley when the television lift was installed in the Corian counter. A unique storage system was installed for the Calphalon Professional cookware (included in the sale) on the bulkhead with stainless steel hooks and custom leather keepers. 

The galley also features: Sub-Zero 249 series stainless steel refrigerator and freezer, a Scandvik stainless steel double sink, KWC Switzerland faucet with retractable sprayer, Seagull under-sink water purification system with a dedicated Esprit faucet, Princess 3 burner LPG stove and oven, Fireboy/Xintex LPG control and alarm panel with sensors under the stove and in the dedicated LPG locker beneath the flybridge settee, Emerson microwave oven, a built-in retractable cutting board, LED dimmable task lighting, and ample cabinet and drawer storage space.

Master Stateroom The ensuite Master Stateroom on Stout is located forward, down a few steps from the salon level, through a companionway with the Guest Stateroom/Den to starboard and the Guest Head to port.

The Master Stateroom features:  the berth to starboard with a Handcraft innerspring folding mattress, a large lighted hanging locker with shoe shelves, two deck prisms for natural light, bronze portlights, a screened hinged overhead hatch, reading lights, a nightstand, and numerous drawers and cabinets for ample storage.  A wall-mounted mirror at the foot of the bed is covered with a piece of artwork.

Master Head The Master Head on Stout is forward and features: bronze portlights, a deck prism for natural light, a mirrored vanity, locker storage space, a Groco freshwater head with electric and manual flush, a Scandvik stainless steel sink with Grohe fixtures, and a lighted separate shower stall with Grohe fixtures and a teak shower grate.

Guest Stateroom/Den The Guest Stateroom/Den is located to starboard, forward of the galley and salon on Stout.  Two guests can sleep on the Ultrasuede settee/berth to starboard or on the athwart ships Pullman berth.  The cabin is also outfitted with: a teak writing desk with an Asper Italian leather chair, bronze portlights, deck prisms for natural light, bookshelves, a nightstand, reading lights, drawers for storage, a hanging locker, and a mirrored cabinet with a concealed ironing board.  There is also an open area for bulk storage or storage bins/baskets.

Guest Head Across from the Guest Stateroom/Den is the Guest Head on Stout.  The head features: a mounted Myson England electric towel warmer, a Tecma electric freshwater head with touch panel control, a separate lighted shower with Grohe fixtures and a teak shower grate, a Scandvik stainless steel sink with Grohe fixtures, a deck prism for natural light, bronze portlights, and a mirrored medicine cabinet.  Gauges located in the Guest Head include: a Wema holding tank level gauge, Wema port and starboard freshwater tank gauges, and the Spectra water maker control panel.

Laundry The Splendide 2100 combination washer/dryer is located behind a louvered door, to port, at the bottom of the steps leading from the galley forward. The washer/dryer is not functional.

1985 KADEY KROGEN 42 HULL, DECK AND FLYBRIDGE

The cockpit, sidewalks and foredeck on Stout are all teak.  The foredeck features a forward facing settee with removable cushions.  The ground tackle includes a Maxwell windlass, two anchors with 400' of chain, and a Mantus anchor bridle with chain hook.

The flybridge on Stout is accessed via a ladder in the cockpit.  A bimini was added by the current owner in 2016.  A Stidd Admiral helm chair and two settees provide plenty of seating.  There is a full complement of navigation electronics, controls, and instruments.  A custom Forespar folding mast and a power lifting davit system are on the flybridge deck.

The bridge clearance with the mast up is 22' 9'.  If the mast is down, but the bimini is up, the bridge clearance is approximately 17'.  When the mast and bimini are both down, the bridge clearance is 14'.  The bimini is easily struck.

The entire hull, below the waterline, was peeled and relaminated using a Hull-Tech process while Stout was in San Diego.  This proprietary process uses biaxial mat and vinylester resin and prevents osmotic blistering.  TRAC Digital active anti-roll fin stabilizers were also installed by Hull-Tech, including extensive bulkhead reinforcements.

1985 KADEY KROGEN 42 PILOTHOUSE

The pilothouse on Stout can be accessed four steps up from the salon, or from the port and starboard Dutch doors on the foredeck.  A Pompanette Platinum Ultraleather captain?s chair with a teak footrest is centerline.  The Ultrasuede settee, which can be used as a watch berth, has a full length fold-down step.  There are two bronze portlights. 

The amenities in the pilothouse include: a teak overhead instrumentation panel, a chart table with both chart and conventional drawers, three windows with wipers, a center top-hinged opening window, a thermostatically ventilated electronics locker, a teak coffee station with an espresso machine and coffee grinder, a stereo music system, a teak and stainless steel helm wheel, and various lighting options.

1985 KADEY KROGEN 42 ENGINE AND MECHANICAL

Stout is powered by a single Ford Lehman Super 135 hp engine, 6-cylinder in line, 4-cycle overhead valve naturally aspirated diesel engine with closed freshwater cooling which makes her very economical to run.  The engine currently has approximately 3100 hours. There are two baffled epoxy coated steel fuel tanks, with a combined capacity of 700 gallons.  Inspection/cleaning ports and sight gauges were added as well as a fuel polishing system.  The approximate ranges are: 8 knots-2,150 nm, 7 knots- 3,200 nm, and 6 knots- 5,000 nm.

A Side-Power SP 125 T 9 horsepower bow thruster by Sleipner Norway with joystick controls at both the pilothouse and flybridge was added to Stout, for ease in docking and locking.  There is a dedicated battery bank for the thruster system.

A Reverso oil change system was also added by the current owner.

There are two portable canister air conditioners included in the sale.

1985 KADEY KROGEN 42 WATER SYSTEMS

Fresh Water: A Spectra MPC-5000 electronic water maker was added to Stout, to supplement the 360 gallon fresh water tank.  There are zero hours on the water maker.

Hot Water: A diesel fired Quantum DEH-65 65,000 btu hydronic heat and hot water system generates unlimited hot water.

Waste Water: A 40-gallon holding tank with topside pump-out, overboard valve and diaphragm waste pump completes the water system on Stout.

1985 KADEY KROGEN 42 ELECTRICAL

The electrical system of Stout includes: (2) Victron Energy MultiPlus 3000 watt smart inverter/chargers with color CX control, and a Kohler 8EOZD 8kw electronically controlled generator in a sound shield enclosure. The Kohler generator currently has approximately 575 hours.

The current owner, who purchased Stout in November, 2015 added: (2) Sun Power SPR-X21-345 Solar panels on pilothouse roof,  Victron Energy BlueSolar MPPT Solar Controller, Victron Energy BMV700 Battery Monitor and Shunt, (2) Compass Marine alternators (total approx 200 amps) with regulator, and a BlueSea ML-ACR auto charging relay.  Twelve (12) Lifeline GPL-4CT house batteries were replaced in late 2018.
