Roger learned how to sail an O’Day 28 while in high school on Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. During college, he sailed a Morgan OI 40 from Miami-based Dinner Key Marina throughout the Keys and Bahamas. Since this early age, he earned multiple ASA certifications (e.g., bareboating/cruising, diesel engine repair, navigation) and completed all related USCG Auxiliary courses.

Roger has sailed or served as charter Captain in the Chesapeake Bay, Narragansett Bay, Buzzards Bay, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Bermuda, Florida Keys, Bahamas, BVIs, USVIs, Leeward Islands (St Maarten, Anguilla, St Kitts/Nevis, St. Bart, Antigua) and the Great Salt Lake. He has offshore raced in Mt Gay-sponsored regattas (e.g., Newport-Bermuda, Barbados, Antigua, Tortola) as well as stateside regatta’s (DC, New York, Chesapeake Bay).

His proudest accomplishment was assisting the launch of DC Sail, a Washington, DC-based 501-C3 enabling 500 underprivileged children to learn the engineering, confidence, discipline, and joy of sailing. He assisted in the fundraising and acquisition of a fleet of Flying Scots and Lasers for the training classes and regattas.

His Pearson 40 (Ted Hood designed centerboard), Dances with Waves, has been docked on Dock C in Annapolis and Moored in Bristol, RI. He is also proficient with power boats/motor yachts (34-47 feet) and has delivered several from Annapolis to Newport RI as well as chartering many throughout the Caribbean islands. Roger is a current member of the Western Carolina Sailing Club.

Roger was a successful business executive starting 9 technology-based companies (1 IPO, 4 acquisitions and 2 are still in business). He is also a licensed South Carolina Realtor so can assist in the purchase of dock space or onshore waterfront homes. Together with Curtis Stokes and Associates’ years of experience, Roger’s knowledge makes him well versed in negotiating and representing the fiduciary obligations of his clients. He looks forward to assisting new or experienced boaters find the right vessel in the right location and at the right price. His executive-level marketing skills and business acumen ensures that all clients will successfully sell or buy the yacht of their dreams.
