Tom has been in some kind of boat forever. He started in an 8’ pram with a 1/2 hp rope pulled outboard tearing around a half acre pond in his parents backyard at 8 years old. He grew into a 12’ aluminum skiff, then a 17’ runabout. Next was a 23’ Grady White in the Great Lakes where he got his USCG Captains License.
Moving to the Seattle area, he upgraded his license for international waters and ran a 28’ Grady White, then a 30’ Carver. Soon the family was in a 34’ CHB Trawler and exploring the Puget Sound and Canadian Gulf Islands. That’s where his career with Kodak went south as they went bankrupt and sold his division.
Tired of the corporate life, he bought a boat dealership in Bellingham, WA. Now he had a lot of boats! He was a dealer for Catalina sailboats and Monk 36 trawlers as well as brokering used boats. Part of the business included delivering boats north to Sitka and Juno, Alaska, and south up the Columbia River as far as the Snake River. Getting ready to retire, he bought a 50’ Catalina sailboat to live on and sold his business.
A couple years later he moved to Hawaii owning smaller boats for fishing and diving. He worked part-time there as a boat broker selling primarily fishing boats.
Moving back to the Mainland, he again landed in Washington State where he purchased a 40’ Ocean Alexander to again enjoy the Puget Sound and beyond. After 3 years, he decided his blood was too thin for the cool Northwest, so it was off to someplace warm. With sons in Alabama and North Carolina, Florida was a logical location.
Through this all, his wife, Linda, has been at his side. Tom is a member of the Palm Coast Yacht Club and Marine Trawler Owners Association. He looks forward to helping people buy and sell their boats.
