Jim Edwards has spent his entire life around boats. He started sailing at a young age, racing the family boat with his father and sailing at Camp Sea Gull. He began his professional career with the YMCA as a Program Director in NC and went on to be Executive Director of a YMCA in Florida. Boating continued to be a big part of his life in both places.

In 2001, Jim and his family embarked on a three-year trip on their sailboat, Green Dolphin. After cruising the East Coast and the Bahamas, they settled in Oriental, North Carolina. Once there, he revived the business he had started in Florida, Bow to Stern Yacht Services. He expanded the scope of the business to include ASA Lessons, Captained and Bareboat Charters, Youth Programs, maintenance and repair services, and now, Yacht Brokerage services with Curtis Stokes and Associates.

Jim holds a USCG Masters License and many ASA Instructor Certifications. He has over 10,000 coastal cruising miles on sailboats and over 2,000 miles cruising on their 36’ trawler. He currently owns and operates Bow to Stern Boating, a family-run charter business and boating school.

Jim is active in Oriental having served on the Parks and Recreation Committee; is currently Dragon Master for the New Year’s Eve Dragon Run, and enjoys assisting in many other local events. He and his wife, Stephanie, have been in Oriental since 2004 and plan to retire there.
