Jim grew up in Oakland County Michigan, which is home to 1,468 lakes, and started fishing and waterskiing at an early age. By the time he was licensed to drive, he was trailering his Dad’s boat to go fishing and skiing with friends.

Upon graduation from Ohio University, and returning home to work in the Retail Banking industry, he then was introduced to the Larger Boating community within Metro Detroit area. With over 20 Marina’s along the stretch between Detroit and St. Clair Shores Michigan it is truly a boater’s wonderland. It was this introduction into larger boats, which eventually prompted Jim to purchase his own 27ft Cruiser which he owned for several seasons until he was more often the designated pilot for friends with larger boats from 32ft to 48ft than on his own boat. During this period, he also obtained his OUPV/Six-pack Captain’s License.

After leaving the Banking and Mortgage Industry after 10yrs, he has been employed as a Recruiter/HR Assistant for the past 21yrs servicing the Special Education/Autism Community, with Teachers and Ancillary providers. Joining Curtis Stokes & Associates in April of 2023, Jim will be utilizing his Financial and People skills to share his passion of boating in assisting new and experienced boaters in obtaining their next Vessel within the S.E Michigan/Great Lakes Boating Community.
