The shroud chainplates are well centered, guaranteeing an efficient sheeting angle while making it easier to move around the sidedecks, and the primary (self-tailing) winches are within arm's reach of the helmsman. The large cockpit has a steering wheel console,mainsail track moved forward on the coachroof, molding for the extra wide dodger, sunbathing area forward, and a recessed windlass in the large anchor well. This 381 is laid out in the owner's version with two large double cabins and large galley aft and to starboard.
