Mary Jean is a three stateroom, galley up model of the ever popular Mainship 430.  An easy to understand boat, the Mainship 430 is suitable for beginners, while experienced boaters appreciate the interior volume, fuel efficiency, seaworthiness and low exterior maintenance.  The galley up configuration offers easy access to the galley while entertaining, which is preferred by many of today’s boaters, and the third cabin insures plenty of room for those guests.  Many Great Loopers and liveaboards also appreciate the third cabin for the extra storage space it offers.  Overall the Mainship 430 is a spacious, versatile yacht perfect for families, cruising couples and live-aboards alike.

MAINSHIP 430 – MARY JEAN – WALKTHROUGH:

DECKS:

The wrap around deck is accessed via gates on the port and starboard sides and at the stern and features a high gunwale topped by a sturdy aluminum hand rail. Cleats are found port and starboard at the bow, forward midships, aft midships and at the stern. The foredeck features an aluminum bow rail, electric windless with anchor roller mount, chain locker and shore power receptacles.  Double fender racks are mounted on the rail, port and starboard.  A raised cabin top features three hatches to the head and cabins below. A search light and FLIR night vision sensor are mounted the starboard flybridge coaming, with antennas mounted on the port and starboard sides. Moving aft along the weather decks the main salon is accessed via a sliding doors on the port and starboard sides. At the stern there is a raised aft cabin top deck, surrounded by an aluminum railing. The deck includes a large deck box and is roomy enough for some deck chairs.  The fly bridge and salon are access from this deck.  A cockpit area is found at the stern and features a transom locker, tender davit, cockpit shower and access to the aft cabin and a full beam swim platform.

FLYBRIDGE:

The large flybridge extends the full length of the salon below and features the helm station forward with captain and mate’s chairs.  Bench seating extends along the starboard side with a L-settee and table opposite. The fly bridge is protected from the elements by a Bimini and full enclosure. A single spreader mast is center mounted aft. Storage is found under the seating and in an aft mounted deck box.

SALON:

The Salon is entered through a sliding door on the aft deck, and features a teak and holly sole, teak paneling and joinery, and windows with valences and wooded blinds, port and starboard. Seating is provided by a U-settee with table on the port side.  A chair, cabinetry and a flat screen TV are found opposite on the starboard side.  An aft facing desk with chair is also found on the starboard side aft.  The aft stateroom is accessed via a companionway at the aft bulkhead.  The helm is located forward on the starboard side, and is separated from the salon by cabinetry topped with a helm seat.  The galley is opposite the helm on the port side and separated from the salon by a countertop and overhead mounted cabinet. The staircase leading to the forward cabins and head is between the helm and the galley. 

LOWER HELM:

The lower helm is found in the salon on the port side forward and features a console helm with full controls and instruments, traditional captains’ wheel and a raised helm, bench seat.  A sliding door provides access to the starboard weather deck.

GALLEY:

The galley is located at forward section of the salon on the port side and features forward and aft countertops. The forward countertop includes, a three burner gas stove and a stainless steel sink.  Drawers and lockers are found under the counter with three open lockers above, one of which is large enough to mount a microwave oven.  The aft countertop features an under counter refrigerator drawers, along with storage lockers and drawers.  A chest freezer is located under the helm seat.  Two additional lockers are overhead mounted above the counter.  A sliding door provides access to the port weather deck. 

FORWARD CABIN:

The private forward stateroom is entered by the forward companionway accessed between the helm and the galley. It features a teak and holly sole, teak paneling, and joinery.  The large v-berth provides accommodation for 2, with drawers underneath and open lockers topped by a shelf running the length of the berth port and starboard.  Two hanging lockers topped with shelving are found aft on the port and starboard sides aft.  A flat screen TV and stereo speakers are mounted on the forward bulkhead. Ventilation is provided by an opening hatch and two opening portlights on the port and starboard sides. 

PORT CABIN:

The private port cabin is entered by the forward companionway.  It features a carpeted sole, teak paneling, and joinery and two single berths that can be converted to a single double berth.  A hanging locker topped with shelving is found port side forward.  Additional storage is provided by a top mounted port side locker, a locker on the aft port side of the cabin and a bedside table between the berths. Ventilation is provided by an opening hatch and an opening portlight.

FORWARD HEAD:

The forward head is accessed from the companionway on the starboard side, opposite the port cabin.  The head features a counter top with porcelain sink on the forward bulkhead, with a spacious shower stall opposite separated by a vacuflush head.  A mirrored medicine cabinet is mounted above the sink with a locker and drawers below.  Ventilation is provided by an opening hatch and an opening portlight. 

AFT STATEROOM:

The private aft stateroom is entered three steps down from the salon.  The cabin features a teak and holly and carpeted sole, teak paneling and joinery and a queen island berth. Storage lockers are found along the aft bulkhead, along with a flat screen TV.  Additional storage is found under the berth and on either side beneath bedside countertops.  A hanging locker is found in the aft starboard corner of the cabin next to a sliding door opening to the cockpit.  Access to the ensuite head is found opposite the berth on the starboard side.  

AFT ENSUITE HEAD:

The private aft ensuite head is located on the starboard side of the aft stateroom.  The head features a counter top with porcelain sink on the starboard bulkhead, with a spacious shower stall w/bench seat along the forward bulkhead.  A vacuflush head is found at the aft bulkhead.  A mirrored medicine cabinet is mounted above the head.  A locker is found behind the sink, with an additional locker below.  Ventilation is provided by an opening portlight.

ENGINE ROOM:

The engine room is located under the salon and is accessed through an utility room under the forward companionway stairs and via hatches in the salon deck.
